So what is Ebay?
Ebay is a program that eBay SEA is helping us (book publishers) to start and grow their cross border business on eBay where majority of the target customers lies in USA, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany & France. Applications for eBay for Business assistance will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Innovativeness of the business idea…
Commercial feasibility of the business model..
Potential market opportunity…
Management Team…among others.
To give you a quick idea on how it works…eBay is like a big supermarket and books would be one of the catergory/product range where shopper would be able to purchase online directly to you…you would have to take care of the shipping yourself…eBay would charge you USD 0.20 cent for each book listing for a month plus a small commission per transaction. I guess this would be one quick channel to sell your books…thinking of creating your own Online shopping…? think twice cos it would cost you at least a 5 figure cost! Worth a try so to speak.
Ebay Representative, Mr. Alex Cheong (the authorized business development partner for eBay) would be happy to have a one to one session talk to you if you would care to contact him at: Tel: 016-6977239 or email him at myexports@ebay.com

Frankfurt Book Fair blogger/journalist Ms. Magali Tardivel and Mr. Jeremie, both from France came to have an exclusive interview with MABOPA and we invited them to lunch for the interview with Mr. Law King Hui, Mr. Arief, Mr. Raymond Liu and myself at Madam Kwan in KLCC on the 3rd June 2010. Both of them had been on the round-the-world trip since 7 months ago and still have 7 more months to complete their journey. They write and post articles in French and English on www.book-fair.com/magali. During each country visit they would meet and interview selected people who work with books, publishers, booksellers, writers and other related bodies in the industry. In Malaysia they would meet and interview MABOPA, an independent writer, a bookseller and a children book publisher.
It was a rare and good opportunity to be able to brief them about the role, aims and objectives of MABOPA in the development of the publishing industry in Malaysia. Having said so, we believe that more MABOPA members would continue to attend, participate and continue to support the Frankfurt Book Fair, the biggest book fair in the world. This year’s Frankfurt Book Fair runs from 6-10 October and the guest of honour is Argentina. More info about the fair visit: www.book-fair.com.

It was a historical moment as the exco held its 8th Executive Committee Meeting on 19th May 2010 at our new office for the very first time!
The meeting lasted 5 hours from 2pm until 7pm. If you are aware your exco meets almost every month and each seating would last up to 5 hours discussing in detail and indepth on the various issues affecting the book industry, not to forget the exco would keep itself abreast with issues over exco-online too.
Soon we would have full time personnel managing this office.

MABOPA organised an open house event in conjuction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Deepavali celebration on 16th October 2009 at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya. The guest of honour was Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Hj. Alimuddin Bin Hj. Mohd Dom, Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran Malaysia and Mr. Abd Halim Ismail, Pengarah of MBKM.
52 members attended the open house function. The turn out was a bit low due to the date being the eve of Deepavali and some members were away at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The exco sincerely apologized for the timing of this event, which we have to do considering the tight schedule of Y. Bhg Tan Sri Dato’ Alimuddin.
Nevertheless, it was a good opportunity to be able to meet up with Tan Sri and the members appreciate his willingness to listen and his commitment to address the problems which was brought up by the members. The Q & A session was lively and covered a variety of subjects such as;
